Treatments Bangladeshi patients travel for

Browse the treatments patients travel for, with the hospitals that publish them, the cost band and the evidence behind each claim.

Start from the specialty

Each specialty lists the hospitals that publish it, the doctors attached, and the cost band with the date it was checked.

The lines the evidence actually names

The one Bangladesh-specific, dated source for what patients travel for is a survey of Bangladeshi medical travellers to India, reported on 24 March 2025 (The Daily Star). It names four lines: cardiac surgery, cancer treatment, kidney treatment and phaco (cataract) surgery. A separate peer-reviewed study of the same flow puts the mix at roughly 14% cardiology and 13% cancer (Zakaria et al., Frontiers in Public Health, 2023), which is consistent with those being the two largest clinical segments.

This page is ordered on that evidence rather than on assumption. Where a line is not named in a Bangladesh-specific, dated source, we say so rather than presenting it as a measured priority. That is why a line such as fertility appears on the Malaysia corridor page — where the destination's own programme brings fertility clinics to Bangladesh — rather than standing here as a measured top line.

Two things this page is not. It is not a recommendation: it lists what hospitals publish, not what we think you should do. And it is not complete: it will grow as more facilities publish more treatment figures we can date.

Cardiac surgery

Cancer treatment (oncology)

named in the dated composition; the second-largest measured segment (about 13%). The cancers treated at the listed hospitals, with the accreditation each publishes and the date we read it.

Kidney treatment (nephrology)

Phaco (cataract) surgery

Orthopaedics

joint replacement, spine and sports-injury work, listed hospital by hospital with the evidence each publishes. Retained here because the facilities publish it; not asserted as a measured top-four line.

named in the dated composition, and the largest measured clinical segment in the peer-reviewed mix (about 14% of the Bangladesh–India sample). Listed hospital by hospital with the evidence each one publishes.

named in the dated composition. Includes the transplant programmes a hospital publishes, with the legal-requirements route each country sets — for India's transplant-visa route, that means clearance from the Law Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Neurology and neurosurgery, Organ transplant

retained for the same reason: the facilities publish these services, and transplant carries a specific, documented visa route. Neither is asserted as a measured priority.

named in the dated composition. Eye surgery and treatment, with the hospitals that publish the procedure and what the stay involves.

How a treatment claim is verified

Three checks stand between a claim and the page.

Source

The hospital or an official body publishes it.

Date

We record the day it was checked, and the record ages.

Scope

We show what it covers and what it does not.

Every record on this page names its source and the date it was checked.

Tell us the condition, and we will map the rest

Send the condition and the destination you are considering. We come back with the hospitals that publish it, the cost band where a source exists, and the medical visa steps with their dates.
