Australia Visa Guide for Bangladeshis

Guidance and resources for Bangladeshi readers.

At a glance

Where should a Bangladeshi applicant start?

Start with the visa purpose and the destination requirements in this guide, then use the linked official sources to confirm the current rules before you pay or apply. Read the pathways, the fee, the documents and the application details in order, then confirm your next step against the official source.

Fee, requirement and processing claims on this page were checked against each country’s official sources. Where an official source contradicted the page, the page was corrected; where no official source supported a figure, the figure was removed. Checked 2026-09-16. Requirements change — check the official source before you apply.

Visa fees

Australia sets the visa application charge centrally, so there is no separate Bangladesh rate. For a visitor visa the amount depends on which stream you apply under and whether you apply inside or outside Australia.

Australia subclass 600 visitor visa charges, amounts in force from 1 July 2026
StreamFee (AUD)
Tourist stream, applying outside Australia$250.00
Business visitor stream$250.00
Sponsored family stream$250.00
Approved Destination Status stream$250.00
Tourist stream, applying in Australiafrom $630.00
Frequent traveller stream$1,845.00

A Bangladeshi applicant applying from Bangladesh for tourism falls in the first row, AUD $250. The higher in-Australia figure applies only if you are already in Australia when you apply.

You pay the charge online in ImmiAccount. Biometrics are collected at the Australian Biometric Collection Centre in Bangladesh, operated by VFS Global, which charges its own service fee in taka; that amount is not published on a readable page, so no figure is given here.

Source: Home Affairs, Visitor visa (subclass 600) and the tourist stream (overseas) page. Amounts are those in force from 1 July 2026; the pages display no last-updated date, so the retrieval date of 26 September 2026 is the date of record.

Required documents

Passport (6+ months validity) required

Original passport signed, with at least two blank visa pages.

Passport photo (35Ă—45 mm) required

Recent colour photo, white background — meets the /tools/visa-photo-checker/ spec.

Confirmed return ticket not required

Not required. Home Affairs asks for “proof that you can return home” — evidence of your reasons and ability to return, such as a letter from your employer stating you plan to return to your job, proof of study or immediate family in Bangladesh, or property you own. Book your flight only after the visa is granted: “We suggest you book your flight after we grant your visa.”

Accommodation proof not required

Australia’s Department of Home Affairs publishes no hotel-booking or accommodation-proof requirement for the visitor visa (subclass 600) or the student visa (subclass 500), so this is not a required document. The only accommodation-related document Australia requires is the Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) for student visa applicants under 18. Where you will stay may be mentioned inside a host’s invitation letter, but it is not a checklist item.

Bank statement (last 3 months) supporting evidence

Home Affairs lists “itemised personal bank statements for a 3 month period” among the proof you can give that you have enough money for your stay and to leave Australia. It is supporting evidence you may provide, not a mandatory checklist item — the Department’s wording is “Provide as much proof as you can”. No minimum balance is stated by the authority.

Invitation letter may be requested

Not mandatory. If you are visiting family or friends, you may provide “a letter from your relative or friend in Australia, inviting you to visit”, stating their relationship to you, the purpose of your visit and the length of stay, and whether you will be staying with them. If you are travelling for business, the Business visitor stream lists “an invitation from a host organisation” among the things you could provide. Home Affairs frames these as “as much proof as you can”, not as required documents.

NOC from employer may be requested

Not a “no-objection certificate”. Home Affairs asks instead for “a letter from your employer stating you plan to return to your job” — proof that you have reasons to return home. Business visitors may provide “a letter from your employer stating why you are visiting”. Leave approval is not a stated requirement.

Yellow fever certificate not required

An arrival-stage matter, not an application document. Home Affairs: “We strongly encourage you to get an international vaccination certificate if: you are aged one or older, and you stayed overnight or longer in a yellow fever-declared country within 6 days before arriving in Australia.” The trigger is staying overnight or longer — merely transiting is not the test.
