Visa fees
UK visa fees are nationality-independent, so a Bangladeshi applicant pays the same amount as any other nationality. The fee is set by the length of the visit and how long the visa itself lasts.
| Visa | Fee | Maximum stay |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Visitor visa | £135 | 6 months |
| Standard Visitor, medical reasons | £234 | 11 months |
| Standard Visitor, academics | £234 | 12 months |
| 2-year long-term Standard Visitor | £506 | 6 months per visit |
| 5-year long-term Standard Visitor | £903 | 6 months per visit |
| 10-year long-term Standard Visitor | £1,128 | 6 months per visit |
| Visitor in Transit visa | £74.50 | Transit |
You apply and pay online through the UKVI service by card, then attend a visa application centre in Dhaka (VFS Global) to give biometrics.

Required documents
Original passport signed, with at least two blank visa pages.
No printed photo is submitted. Your photograph and fingerprints are taken at the visa application centre as biometrics when you attend your appointment.
No confirmed ticket is required. Gov.uk lists flight bookings among documents you should not use as evidence (unless you are transiting), so do not buy or submit a ticket to prove this. What you must show is that “you’re able to pay for your return or onward journey (or have funding from someone else to pay for the journey)” — for example through your financial evidence. If you are transiting the UK, the guide does ask for confirmation that “your outward journey from the UK has been confirmed and is within 48 hours of arrival”.
You do not submit a hotel booking to prove accommodation — gov.uk lists hotel bookings under “Documents you should not use as evidence”. In the application you must instead state “where you’ll be staying during your visit”. If a friend or relative is hosting you, provide sponsor evidence: “If someone else (your sponsor) is providing your travel, maintenance or accommodation you should provide evidence showing: what support is being provided and whether it extends to any dependent family”, together with the host’s name, address and passport number where they are a family member in the UK.
There is no UK rule requiring 3 months of bank statements, and gov.uk publishes no minimum balance for visitors. For a Standard Visitor visa, financial documents are recommended rather than prescribed: provide “financial documents showing that you have sufficient funds available”, such as “bank statements which detail the origin of the funds held”. Note that “bank statements or letters issued more than 1 year before the date of application” are listed among documents you should not use as evidence. On the Student route the rule is specific and different from 3 months: “You must have this money for at least 28 days in a row. The end date of the 28-day period must be within 31 days of the date you apply for your visa.”
Invitation letters apply to business, not to family or friends: “If you are attending a business event or conference, you should provide a letter of invitation from the organiser of the event you are attending.” Invitation letters are also asked for in the permitted-paid-engagement and workplace/study contexts (“any letters from inviting or sending organisations”). If you are staying with family or friends, gov.uk does not require an invitation letter — it asks for sponsor evidence that “support is being provided”.
The UK does not require a no-objection certificate or a leave-approval document. The closest document gov.uk mentions is optional: you “may want to provide” an employer letter, “a letter from your employer on company headed paper, detailing your role, salary and length of employment”. Do not present an NOC as a required document for a Standard Visitor visa.
A yellow fever certificate is not a UK visa requirement. Gov.uk describes the certificate as “an entry requirement for some countries under the International Health Regulations (2005)” — i.e. a requirement of the country you are travelling to, not of the UK. The UK’s own visa health test is the TB test, triggered by where you have lived, not by transit: “you’ve lived in any of these listed countries for 6 months or more” (Bangladesh is on that list). Check the destination country’s entry rules before you travel.
You’ll need a tuberculosis (TB) test if all of the following are true: you’re coming to the UK for 6 months or more; you’ve lived in any of these listed countries for 6 months or more (Bangladesh is on the list); and you were living there (or another listed country) within the last 6 months.
