Step-by-step application overview

  1. Fill the online form at indianvisa-bangladesh.nic.in. Select your visa category carefully — it cannot be changed after submission. Print the application form after completing.
  2. Book your IVAC slot at ivacbd.com. Slots are limited — check weekly if slots appear unavailable. Select the IVAC centre serving your residential district.

  4. Submit at IVAC on your appointment day. Bring: completed printed form, all documents, ৳1,500 cash for the service charge, and your passport.
  5. Biometrics are captured at the IVAC counter during submission.

Common rejection reasons

  • Photo non-compliance: Must be 2×2 inch, white background, no glasses, taken within 6 months

After your visa: arrival form, FRRO, extension

Online arrival form (mandatory since 1 October 2025): Complete at indianvisaonline.gov.in at least 72 hours before crossing any Indian land border. Air travellers do not need this form. FRRO registration: Required within 14 days of arrival if your visa is valid for more than 180 days. Register at indianfrro.gov.in. Visa extension: Apply through e-FRRO before your current visa expires if your stay needs to continue.

Can Bangladeshi nationals get an Indian e-Visa?

No. As of June 2026, the Indian e-Visa scheme does not include Bangladesh. All applicants must complete the online form and submit documents at IVAC in Bangladesh.

How long does IVAC take to process an Indian visa from Bangladesh?

Typically 2–3 weeks for tourist and business visas during the phased restoration period. Medical visas receive priority and typically process in 5–10 working days.

What is the IVAC service charge in 2026?

Is the Maitree Express running?

No. The Dhaka–Kolkata Maitree Express has been suspended since 19 July 2024. The Bandhan and Mitali Express are also suspended. Travellers use flights or the road route via Benapole–Petrapole.

Do I need an online arrival form for India?

Yes. Since 1 October 2025, all land border crossings require a mandatory online arrival form from indianvisaonline.gov.in. Air travellers are exempt. Complete it at least 72 hours before crossing.

How long can I stay in India on a tourist visa?

A first-time tourist visa is typically single-entry 30 days. Multi-entry 1-year visas allow stays of up to 90 days per entry. 5-year and 10-year visas are granted to well-travelled applicants with established history.
