What changed on 10 August 2025
On 10 August 2025, IVAC revised the service charge from ৳824 to ৳1,500 — the first increase since 2018. The previous ৳824 rate had been in effect for seven years. The revision reflects increased operating costs at IVAC centres across Bangladesh.
The government visa fee itself did not change — it remains gratis (৳0) for Bangladeshi nationals, a longstanding bilateral arrangement between Bangladesh and India.
Why the government visa fee is gratis for Bangladeshi nationals
India and Bangladesh maintain a reciprocal visa fee waiver for each other's nationals. Under this bilateral policy, the government of India does not charge Bangladeshi passport holders a visa fee. The only cost is the IVAC service charge, which is set by the visa centre operator, not by the Indian government.
This gratis arrangement does not extend to foreign nationals applying from Bangladesh — they pay nationality-based fees as per the standard Indian visa fee schedule.
Refund and re-application rules
The ৳1,500 IVAC service charge is non-refundable regardless of the outcome. If your visa is refused, you lose the fee. If you want to reapply, you pay a fresh ৳1,500 with the new application.
- IVAC does not offer any paid fast-track, VIP, or premium processing service
- Anyone charging extra money for "faster" processing is not sanctioned by IVAC
- The standard ৳1,500 is the only legitimate IVAC fee
Is the Indian visa free for Bangladeshi nationals?
The government visa fee is gratis (৳0). You pay ৳1,500 as the IVAC service charge — this is the actual cost of applying from Bangladesh.
When did the IVAC service charge change to BDT 1,500?
10 August 2025. Before that, the fee was ৳824, in effect since 2018 — a span of seven years without revision.
Is the fee the same for all visa categories?
Yes. The ৳1,500 IVAC service charge applies to all visa categories — tourist, medical, business, student, entry, employment, conference, and transit — for Bangladeshi passport holders.
Are there extra fees for premium service or fast-track?
No. There are no official premium or fast-track fees. Anyone asking for extra payment is offering something IVAC does not sanction.
