By bus, routes passing through Progoti Sharani include services from Mirpur, Uttara, Banani, and Gulshan. The nearest planned metro station is Progoti Sharani on MRT Line 1 (not yet operational as of June 2026). What to bring (and what not to)

Allowed items

Your printed application form, passport, photos, supporting documents, delivery slip (for collection), cash (৳1,500), and a small wallet. Carry a clear folder to keep your papers organised.

Prohibited electronics

Mobile phones, laptops, tablets, and cameras are restricted inside the IVAC area. You may be asked to leave them at the security checkpoint or at locker storage outside. If you need your phone for the e-token confirmation, screenshot it beforehand or print it.

Bag restrictions

Large bags and backpacks are not permitted inside. Carry only a slim document folder. JFP has mall-level locker services if you need to store larger items.

Senior, women, and business priority counters

IVAC Dhaka operates separate priority counters for senior citizens, women, and business visa applicants. Look for the signage at the entrance to the IVAC wing. These counters can significantly reduce your wait time.

Inside the centre: the submission process

  1. Security screening — after entering JFP, follow signs to the IVAC wing. Pass through the security checkpoint where bags and electronics are checked.
  2. Token counter — present your e-token confirmation (printed or screenshotted). The staff assigns you a queue number.
  3. Initial document check — a preliminary counter verifies that your form, photos, and supporting documents are in order before you proceed.
  4. Submission counter — your application is formally accepted, the ৳1,500 service charge is collected in cash, and your documents are processed.
  5. Biometrics — fingerprints and digital photograph are captured at the biometrics station.
  6. Receipt and delivery slip — you receive your Web File Number receipt and a delivery slip with an expected collection date.

History of IVAC Dhaka

Before 2018, Dhaka had multiple IVAC locations in Gulshan and Mirpur. In 2018, all Dhaka operations were consolidated into a single mega-centre at Jamuna Future Park, making it the largest IVAC worldwide by footprint and daily processing volume. The move aimed to streamline operations and improve the applicant experience, though capacity constraints have become more visible since the December 2025 service disruption.
